Listened to a great interview conducted by Michael Horton of the White Horse Inn with J.I. Packer and Gary Parrett. The topic of the conversation – which can be found here - revolves around the importance of discipling new converts and children through the process of catechism (from the Greek word catechesis), which “is simply instruction in the basic doctrines of the Christian faith” (Father’s, Instruct Your Children).
We’ve attempted this ourselves a few times, but haven’t habitually followed through. After listening to this program I’m encouraged to begin this process once again and even learn how this could be incorporated in a local church.
If you’re reading this today, have you ever considered using the catechisms as a means of personal or family discipleship?
